The Johnny Carson Exhibit, in Mr. Carson’s home town of Norfolk, Nebraska, is a custom-built interactive educational display detailing Carson’s life and entertainment career. It includes a recreation of the “Tonight Show” stage, “Best of” video clips, six Emmy Awards, Kennedy Center Honors, Presidential Medal of Freedom and numerous trivia questions/answers regarding Mr. Carson’s life in Norfolk and entertainment career.

The most unique aspect of the exhibit includes a recreation of the “Tonight Show” stage which contains a custom built Carson mannequin and clothes worn by Johnny Carson during one of his shows. A motion sensor around the stage detects when a visitor is in the area.  Once movement is detected, the visitor hears the “ Tonight Show” theme song song and Ed McMahan saying, “Heeere’s Johnny!” The stage lights go on and the visitor is entertained for the next 3 to 5 minutes with one of Johnny Carson’s favorite, handpicked monologs. Once the monolog is over, the stage lights go out, and the system takes 30 seconds to reset. The next time motion is detected in the area, the system repeats itself with a different monolog.
