The Nebraska State Firefighters Museum is located outside of Kearney, Nebraska, next to interstate 80. The 5,000 Square-foot exhibit space consists of interactive educational exhibits and a 40-foot-long timeline display detailing the history of firefighting in Nebraska since the 1850s. Exhibits are comprised of restored fire engines, hand-pumpers, vintage uniforms, bunker gear, fire extinguishers, nozzles, equipment and a large collection of antique toy fire engines. Interactive displays include a hand cranked fire siren, four stencil stations which allow children to trace firefighting pictures and various sized bunker gear which kids of all ages can wear. Basement, kitchen and living room dioramas are used to educate visitors on various fire prevention techniques.
